Today, I want to hear from you about what you may do or what you may remember to fuel your creative fires!
Last year I finished a degree in music. Studying something creative can be really fun, but at the same time it can also take away the passion and authenticity it once had. Has this ever happened to you? I’m sure this ‘funk’ can extend past studying and apply to any creative medium that is trying to become more commercial, etc!
I find that a lot of aspects can get in the way of our creativity, like; fear of failure, insecurities of talents, comparisons to other people in our line of work (or should I say, art!), and plain old laziness! And a lot of the time these aspects work together to contribute to said lethargy. So what can we do? I think we need to re-inject the fun aspect of ‘art’ and keep positive about the result rather than the process! (Well, that is the case for me at least!)
Yesterday someone said to me, “if you don’t use it you lose it”. It had just the right amount installment of fear it needed for me to pick up my guitar today and try write a song for the first time in a while. It worked so well, I am thinking about writing it somewhere big and sticking it in my room somewhere to remind me.
Do any of you have sayings that you cling to? Anything that is inspiring? I want to hear from you about your battles and triumphs with creativity! Maybe we can all get inspired to go home tonight and get passionate again!
Lots of love to you all
