I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
I love everything about it. Everything. Decorating, spending time with family, the fact that you are on holiday, buying presents for loved ones, eating, drinking, relaxing, christmas music, the colours red, green and white. Its just so great! Rosie laughs at me, but I know she loves it too, she just isn’t quite as obsessed as I am. Yet.
Last week I put up the beginnings of my Christmas decorating, yes I did write last week, a bit early for some, but like I said – I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I’m really into the red berries you can buy from christmas shops so this year I wanted them to be the focus of my decorating. This is what I have done so far in the lounge…
I have several Christmas traditions I do every year and last year I started one more, my boyfriend and I decided to start a 12 days of Christmas ‘ritual’. On a piece of paper we each write down 6 christmassy themed things we would like to do together on a piece of paper and not telling each other what they are we fold them up and put them in a jar. Each day on the 12 days before Christmas we pull out a piece of paper and have to do what is on it. For example last year I really wanted to make eggnog as I had never done it before and Alex had never seen A Muppets Christmas Carol so I popped those two in there.
We ended up being rather busy towards Christmas and we had to pull out two a day once or twice to make sure we did them all, Muppets Christmas Carol and Eggnog ended up coming up together. Having never made eggnog we chose the one recipe out of hundreds which appealed the most to us (it had ice cream in it) it turned out to be incredibly alcoholic. Watching A Muppets Christmas Carol very tipsy was a real experience!
This year we are continuing the tradition and I thought in the spirit of Christmas I would share some things that I am thinking of putting in the jar this year, or just generally hoping to make. These are things that I have seen and pinned on my Pinterest, most of them are focused around food and drink which if you know me is not surprising…. but I’ll be sure to add in a movie or two and a physical activity in the mix for my final 6.
You can find the links for these and many more on my XMAS Pinterest Board.
I would say Merry Christmas but even I think its a lil early for that.
Sarah x
